We are all full-time professionals here in Beijing, so we count on your support to make the MIT Club of Beijing an active, fun, and rewarding experience. Every member can help in one or more of the following ways:
Organize an event
Take charge and organize an event. The club organizers have had a lot of experiences organizing events, so we will offer you plenty of support in organizing your event.
Be a speaker
We are always looking for great speakers for our events. In the past we have had the likes of Sloan School Dean Emeritus Professor Lester Thurow, founder of Sohu Charles Zhang, etc, as our speaking guests. If you would like to speak to our club on a topic you are passionate about, we would love to hear from you.
Recruit speakers
Many speakers are happy to speak to our club, and it just takes a phone call or an email to invite. If you know of someone that you think might be a great speaker, you can help us in inviting him or her. If an official invitation is appropriate, please contact us, and we can help you put it together.
See, it's as simple as that, so let us know at mitbeijing at mitbeijing.com if you are interested in helping with any of the above. Look forward to your valued contribution and assistance!
Become an Education Counselor
Remember your MIT interview experience? Was it one which put you at ease or made you even more excited about MIT? Did it make a difference in your application and decision process as you headed for college? Would you like an opportunity to meet and get to know some of the best and brightest students from China? MIT is in need of more alumni like you to help interview high schoolers who are applying to MIT. The number of applicants has increased dramatically in the past few years but the number of Educational Counselors, or ECs, who interview them, has stayed pretty much the same. If you have some time to spare, and are interested in being an EC, please let me know, and I can give you the details. It takes about 30-45 minutes to interview a student face to face or over the phone, and about another 15-45 minutes to write up a simple narrative report to MIT. You can interview as few (1) or as many as you'd like each year, depending on your interest and availability.
If you'd like to find out more, please feel free to contact Rossana Lin. I look forward to hearing from some of you!
Cheers,
